Probate Court in Detroit and has never been seen before today. When it
was filmed, Mimi and her mother had not seen each other for two years.
The court refused to allow me access to shoot the footage inside so
Mimi brought her mother Virginia outside of the North entrance to the
courthouse. The attorney you see suddenly yanking Virginia away from
her mother represents the court-appointed guardian who was given
complete control of Virginia’s life regardless of her constitutional,
statutory, civil or human rights. All because the nursing home wanted
to be paid for a past-due bill. Mimi’s reaction was the result of a
fight to have her mother’s rights restored which drained her
emotionally. Remember, she hadn’t been able to see or touch her mom
for two years. Virginia Wahab passed away today at the age of 95.
