My husband and I had custody of our nephew through a Power of
Attorney, when that expired, we filed for a guardianship. Cps did
their investigation and our nephew told them he didn’t want to be with
his mother, and that the only home he knew was ours. He had been living
with us on and off, his entire life, now 8 years old. He had been
living with us for 2 years prior permanently with having contact with
his mom. After filing for the guardianship she decided she wanted him
back. Judge Robert Sykes Jr didn’t want to hear the case, he ordered
that our nephew be handed back to his mother because he doesn’t
believe in a guardianship.
